ALTER EGO REACH THE FINALS IN PRESTIGIOUS IF DESIGN AWARD

Founded in 1953, iF Design has since become a global symbol of excellent design - especially with hosting the annual iF DESIGN AWARD, one of the most prestigious design awards worldwide.

For the iF DESIGN AWARD 2023, international design experts – from newcomers to design superstars from all over the world – met to determine award-winning designs among almost 11,000 entries from 56 countries, based on a set of objective screening standards.

And we are delighted to have been named as finalists in the iF DESIGN AWARD 2023 in Interior Architecture - Residential Interiors category in recognition for our project Villa Pinede.

In this project we tried to erase the boundaries between the inside and outside. The house is surrounded by an extensive garden, carefully designed to bloom all year round. The floor-to-ceiling windows afford stunning views, which turn into elements of the interior, start a visual dialogue with it and are echoed in the decorative motifs. Such as, the floral ornaments of relief panels hand-carved from tufa that replicate the exterior elements. The harmony of architectural and interior choices creates a feeling of completeness.

The compositional and conceptual centre of the villa is the huge lounge area, where we brought to life the customer’s cherished dream to unite all the family members. The planning idea allowed cleverly setting up an imposing spacious hall of 400 sq.m with high ceilings, creating a feeling of purity and balance and filling it with light and air.

Being one of the customer’s key demands, sustainability is at the core of this project. The villa is equipped with cutting-edge technologies to achieve net-zero emissions and minimal energy consumption. On-site water treatment is implemented to filter waste water while underground heat pumps are used for heating and cooling. Utilising natural materials for the interior our design team collaborated only with the manufacturers who use in their production woods from controlled and programmed cuts and extract stone in accordance with the Natural Stone Sustainability Standard.
