ALTER EGO HIGHLY COMMENDED AT THE INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS
The International Design Awards was created to recognize, celebrate and promote exceptional creative visionaries and discover emerging talent in design. The 16th edition of the IDA received an overwhelming number of entries from almost 80 countries and this year the standard of entries was exceptionally high.
So, it’s a great pleasure for us that our project made it through to the final round of voting and got top prize in this prestigious award in the Interior Design – Residential category.
Villa Pinède is a grand-scale project, a family residence. The main idea of the project was to create timeless and functional design enhancing it with fresh tailor-made solutions and innovative technologies. The originality and distinctiveness of the interior is coupled with it being practical, consistent and pure.
The compositional and conceptual centre of the villa is the huge hall. The planning idea allowed cleverly setting up an imposing space of 400 sq.m with high ceilings, creating a feeling of purity and balance and filling it with light and air.
One of the unique features of the interior is certainly the fireplace. This 6-metre high art object is made of a single slab of marble with the use of innovative technologies of stone processing. Its décor looking like folds of marble “fabric” is inspired by classical sculptures of great Renaissance masters.
Another point to admire is the spiral staircase. The tracery flower petal railings of the staircase are developed by the ALTER EGO designers and are subjected to galvanisation producing a complex nickel-plated finish.
The villa’s sustainable design contributes to achieve net-zero emissions and minimal energy consumption. Utilising natural materials for the interior the design team collaborated only with the manufacturers who use in their production woods from controlled and programmed cuts and extract stone in accordance with the Natural Stone Sustainability Standard.
